Ebooks haben angeblich viele Vorzüge, z.B.:
1. Ebooks promote reading. People are spending more time in front of screens and less time in front of printed books.
2. Ebooks are good for the environment. Ebooks save trees. Ebooks eliminate the need for filling up landfills with old books. Ebooks save transportation costs and the pollution associated with shipping books across the country and the world.
3. Ebooks preserve books. (The library of Alexandria was burned and the collection ruined. Richard Burton’s wife, after his death and against his wishes, destroyed a book he had been working on for ten years. The original manuscript of Carlyle’s The French Revolution was lost when a friend’s servant tossed it into the fire.) Ebooks are ageless: they do not burn, mildew, crumble, rot, or fall apart. Ebooks ensure that literature will endure. (Epublishers Weekly)
1. Endlich noch mehr Zeit vor Bildschirmen verbringen.
2. Endlich weitere Kraftwerke für den zusätzlichen Strombedarf bauen.
3. Auch in 2000 Jahren sind Ebook-Formate ohne weiteres lesbar. Klar doch.
Geht man die Liste weiter durch, kommen auch noch ein paar vernünftige Argumente.

Man muss nicht alles glauben, was Steve Jobs erzählt, auch wenn es den hässlichen Kindle von Amazon betrifft:

Wie allgemein bekannt hat Doris Lessing den diesjährigen Literaturnobelpreis bekommen. Und tatsächlich finde ich ihre Unterschrift in meiner Ausgabe von The Golden Notebook. Ich habe sie 1991 bei einer Lesung während des Fringe-Kulturfestivals in Edinborough live erlebt. War ziemlich beeindruckend, soweit ich mich noch erinnern kann. In irgendeiner Kiste muss es ein Dia geben…

Der Uli hatte recht, erst musste ich diesen dicken Wälzer durchlesen. Um kurz nach 12 war ich durch. (— gelöscht —) Nachdem schon ein kurzer Kommentar als Spoiler missverstanden wurde, will ich keine weiteren Fans unglücklich machen.
