Ja, ich weiß, Sicherheit wird auch auf dem Mac ein immer größeres Thema. Aber würde ich wirklich Norton Antivirus wollen, das gerade von unimall besonders günstig fürs akademische Umfeld angeboten wird? Das war die schlimmste Spaßbremse zu meinen Windowszeiten, weil noch der schnellste Rechner nach der Installation zu schleichen anfing.

Man muss nicht alles glauben, was Steve Jobs erzählt, auch wenn es den hässlichen Kindle von Amazon betrifft:

“It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the fact is that people don’t read anymore,” he said.

Wie schön, dass es doch immer wieder einfach ist Klischees zu pflegen. Wer bietet sich da besonders gut für alle Apfeljünger an? Klare Sache, Microsoft.

The system would allow managers to monitor employees’ performance by measuring their heart rate, body temperature, movement, facial expression and blood pressure. Unions said they fear that employees could be dismissed on the basis of a computer’s assessment of their physiological state.
Admittedly, systems like this could be used for good. If workers are overstressed, they could be given breaks or slow down work. However, with all things like this, the potential for misuse is huge.

Für alle, die wie ich von einem Fujitsu Scansnap träumen, aber wegen des hohen Preises – bei Amazon sinkt der Preis zwar langsam – für den 510 zögern, dürfte diese Meldung interessant sein:

Macworld is reporting that Fujitsu is finally going to release Mac support for their newest, portable ScanSnap S300 which has hitherto been Windows only and which costs a considerably more palatable $295.

Bei Fujitsu kann man das Gerät in zugeklapptem Zustand bewundern. Erscheinen soll es aber erst im Frühjahr, es ist wohl langsamer und ohne OCR. Dann lieber warten, bis der 510 billiger wird.

Was für ein tolles Gefühl! Die Keynote ist vorbei und ich muss wirklich überhaupt nichts von dem ganzen neuen Kram haben. Da freut sich der Geldbeutel.

Während die einen vermuten (wollen), dass “There is something in the air.” eventuell auf einen Livestream hindeuten könnte, scheint eine Seite Nägel mit Köpfen machen zu wollen. Wahrscheinlich entpuppt sich das als verfrühter Aprilscherz. Jedenfalls verweist MacApper auf die Seite cunning.tv, die tatsächlich einen Livestream anbieten will.

Looking for video coverage of Macworld is not going to be easy. Very few sites can handle the bandwidth and the load of streaming video from the keynote. However, this year, Cunning.tv, a new Internet tech channel that I helped create, will be getting video of Steve Jobs live out of the keynote. Be sure to arrive to the website early on though, because the video requires a lot of bandwidth, and may be only accessible to a limited number of people.
